Jbe Hawke s I Bay and Palmerston contingent were ■ expected to arrive last evening. As j ' accommodation lias -been booked for ! seventy visiting 'horses, there is not m,ueli likelihood of the number that have accepted being greatly diminishod. The plough was fairly heavy after the recent rains, and no gallops of a fast- order were registered. • Sir Solo, who is carrying a good deal of condition, went once round at half pace. The Sir Laddo colt should be very well by the time of the Wellington Spring meeting. Ladino, Cliffside. and Stoneyfalls were associated over five furlongs, and finished in that order. Valatua, Gav Lass, Operation and Marima covered the same distance, finishing in the order named. Vo-Ta-tudi is a fine upstanding horse, which should make an ideal hurdler later on. He will be a starter in the Bracelet on Thursday.
Sinapis, a New Zealand Cup candidate, was worked twice round a! half pace, .and sprinted a couple d furlongs.
