SAN FRANCISCO EXPOSITION
AN APPEAL TO NEW ZKALA ND. Mr William Perry, of Iwastert-.m, president of the N.Z. Lincoln Sheephreeders' Associ'tt ; . ■'■ •• ' received a communication, from the Chief of the Live Stock Department of the Pan-ama-Pacific- International Exposition, to bo held at San Francisco in. .1015, stating that extensive provision.is be-, ing made for a great live stock display at-the exposition. The writer . (who is appropriately named D. O. Lively) states that tho sheep division. | will come in for an extra amount of attention, for tho reason that the growing of sheep for wool and mutton is a, great industry in that part of the- United States lying west of the Rocky Mountains. Of a sum l of 175,000 dollars that has been set aside as premiums to live .stock, 25,000 dollars will go to sheep. '' This amountwill be, supplemented by special ap--1 propriations from some of the States , to he competed for by citizens there- i of, as well as added money by various breed record associations. Mr Lively concludes his letter: "We are especially anxious to have a. sheep display from Now Zealand, and itwould be a splendid idea if you could, at the proper time, secure either Governmental or association specials, or both, to apply on sheep to be competed for by exhibitors from Now Zca-' land. Of course'the exhibitors would also compete for tho prizes offered by the Exposition Company, the classes in each instance being open to all the world. I will bo under obligations if you will writ* lno at length giving me your opinion, and offering such suggestions a s may be of benefit."
