MABTERTON PICTURE COMPANY J The large audiences that patronised tlio Town Hall pictures on Saturday afternoon and evening were rewarded by witnessing one of the best series of pictures ever presented in Masterton. i'he pictures were a high order, and were 'headed by the brilliant circus drama. "The Circus Girl." This sensational ii by the famous Nordish Company, detail the tragic life of a circus girl, the leading rolo is taken by the world's famous picture actress Miss Aista Nfeilson. Another pathetic drama was that entitled "Their Golden Anniversary," a/ Vila-graph drama of exceptional merit, a story full of pathos and human: nature, with a climax of delightful vein. Maurice Costeilo takes 'the leading role. "The Cattle King's Daughter" is a V ern story of strong contrasts, dealing with, highwaymen, and a brave girl's act of sympathy, working as a charm i and enabling her jescue from a perilous situation. The Pathe Gazette shewed all the latest happenings in other lands. "Opossum Hunting" is ! a unique coloured scenic -study.-"Love i Finds Out the Way" is a bun-.-;h of merriment, well held together. Then we have "How to Exact Rent," another special comic. "The Animal's Friend" is one big laugh. "Coto-de-Auzur is a scenic film of beauty. One of the many features of the entertainment is the excellent music supplied by the Town Hall professional orchestra and new American selections of which will find favour with the musical. On Wednesday evening a grand change will be presented, when "The Frontier Child" will be screened. THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES THE ACTOR'S DAUGHTER. The Foresters' Hall was packed at both sessions on Saturday with delighted audiences. To-night a "five star" programme will •be presented by Messrs Thompson and Payne, am will include a remarkable play entitled "The Actor's Daughter.'' Patrons are advised not to miss this picture- as it deals in a most extraor* dinary way with'a girl's life on the stage. It tells a tale of how an old actor watches with anxious eyes over his daughter in her successful career, and how her desire for pleasure, after once tasting the forbidden cup, leads to her undoing and a sensational climax. Star number two is "The Girl With the Lantern." Selig are alwavs to the fore with sensational drama, and, in "The Girl With the Lantern," we have a gripping story, one of continual thrill. The heroine on this occasion is Miss Kitty Williams. Picture patrons will remember her as a dashing actress, who has apnea red in the animal stories. In this' feature she is again seen to advantage in a- railroad romance, in which her quick wit and pluck provents a head-on collision. Then in "Mufgins, V.C., at Khuina Hospital (this being the third star) we- have a military spectacle of a very powerful subject/ The story shows us another incident in the. life- of this popular battle hero. Lubin is seen in "The Hoyden" and "A Mexican Romance" (the fourth and fifth stars) I Both are of an appealing nature, and will he instantaneous .favourites.
