MONTHLY MEETi.V,. | The Ttioulhly meeting of the Master ton Trust Lands Trust was hold last evening, there being present ' Messrs It. Krahagen (Chairman) W. , H. Jackson. T. Wagg, A. W. Hogg, | H. C. Robinson, I). Casolberg, T. B. Michel] and C. E. Daniell. It was deckled on the moton of Mr H. C. Robinson 'that tho .secretary be instructed to forward a letter ot ' thanks to Sir Robert -Stout, K.C., for tho lecture on Education delivered in tho Town Hall ou September 2(jth. Mr D. C. Pryor wrote thanking the trustees for the matriculation grant.; Received. Miss Mary MeKenzio wrote enquiring whether a matriculation grant' will be paid to her this year. Mr- W. H. J ic.kson stated that the applicant had received a grant of CIO for three years, and according to the regulations she was not eligible for a continuation of the grant this year. Mr C. E. Daniell said tint ho did not think that any regulation passed by the Trust was intended to deprive a deserving student from pursuing bis or her studies at the University for four or five years, provided he or she acted up to the Trusts' re- j quirements. ] Mr Jackson said that the present | regulations should be rescinded, but ] in his opinion, as the regulations stood at present, a student could not receve a grant, such as that under discussion, for a longer term than three years. Mr Daniell said "that there was no- ! thing in the regulations to prevent a I grnnt being made-for a further term j than three years, if the Trust thought ' fit. j Mr Daniell then proposed that the I applicant bo allowed a further of £lO. ] Mr T. B. Micjii'll seconded the re- j solution. . Mr Casclberg thought that the I case was a deserving one. but vfor} the present regulations of the Trnst j it was not possible to make tho grant J .in the ordinary way. I . Mr Hogg thought that the throe- ' year limit was quite evident, and the' Trust did not have any discretionary ] power to make a grant beyond that j period. Mr Daniell was of .the opinion tint / some finality should be arrived at ori , the matter. Mr Robinson said that the new regulations applied only to new cases, and should be applied to these only. On tlie motion of the Chairman it was decided tint- the matter be adjourned until next meeting, when 'information doali"<T with the matter would be brought forward. Mr J.
