WOMEN IN CHURCHES.
It has always be«i a mystery to us, as it must have been, to m.iny other people, why the Anglican clergy of New Zealand persistently refuse to allow women to take part in the discussions at parish meetings. Everybody knows that women are the mainstay of v!'e churches. They organise and c:rry through almost- every movement which is 'necessary lor the upkeep of the Church. And ye'r. when it ••(.ities to a meeting <;f parishioners, they are not permitted. to either soealc or vote. The laity of the C Jtiich has been fighting hard to remove tin's anomaly; but the clergy is so wrapped up in ancient tradition that it denies the women common justice., The time is not far distant, we hope, when the clerical prejudices will be broken down, and the women of the Church willcome to their rights:.
