A meeting of the Mastorton teur Tneatneal Society was jjcld in Murray's Mali on Wednesday evening. The conductor (Mr 11. J. \oung) oc- , ciipied the chair. He urged than a larger chorus was necessary in order to do still better work, and wished members to improve in part singing. Very careful attention would be given to this side of the work. In order to hold present members, and build up the strength of the Society, Mr Young j suggested that one practice a montn j should be held until about April of next year, and a. small' committee be appointed to select the work lor next year, and make arrangements with regard to practice room, and piano. These suggestions were heartily received, and unanimously adopted. Messrs Jago, Sutton, Hall <iud the conductor were appointed a comi mittee to deal with these matter?. The monthly practice was fixed for the first Tuesday in. each -no 1!!. Many matters were suggested \v members present to improve the .Society, one being the obtaining of honorary members. This was referred to the general committee for consideration. It was also decided to' make the members of the orchestra who generously gave their services honorary members with full privileges. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr S. A. Noble-Campbell on behalf of the . Society thanking him for his efficient services during the recent performances. The action of the secretary in sending a letter of condolence to Mr and Mrs H. F. Francis, in their recent sad bereavement, Avas confirmed.
