FATAL ACCIDENT
GLADSTONE MAORI KILLED. On Wednesday .evening about 8.45 o'clock (according to the News), two Maoris, named Pehi Henii and Mita, whilst proceeding along White's Lino in <t' motor car narrowly escaped running over the body of a man lying across the road. investigations proved the body to lie that of another Maori named; Hamuera ]haka.ra (more familiarly known as S:vm Isaacs) whom they had previously seen on horseback at the Taratahi Hotel proceeding to his home at Gladstone. Sam evidently fell or was thrown from his horse near the residence of Mr J. ftay, Ho sustained injuries to h.is head from which dentil resulted. He was a man of about 57 years of age, and a widower. He: leaves a soil, with whom lie resided at Gladstone. , An inquest into the circumstances of the death will be held a( the Carterton Courthouse this morning nt 10 o'clock.
