AND THEIR SALARIES. (Z>7 Tclegravh — Tress Association.) CIIKJ'STCHUKCH, Last Night. At a largely attended meeting of the North Canterbury branch of the Railway Officers' Institute, the following :c:olutiur.s wore carried uuanimous'v:—(l) This meeting approves of the ..•tica of delegates in deciding to continue oar demands for equality of treatment with other branches of the j)ublj:j service, and will do all in its power to assist the Institute in furthering the objects in view (2) This meeting is of opinion that the reply of the Minister is inadequate, to satisfy the officers of the rilway service. (3) We consider that if the Department bases the salaries of railway officers on percentages of profit, it places these officers in a position uuenviably and unique in the public service of the Dominion.. (4). We consider that if such practice-be enforced, it will be the duty of officers to criticise the policy of the administration of the railways. (;") No just and sufficient reasons have been given why our salaries and other conditions should not be equal to the pay of officers in other public services of the Dominion.
