CAKTERTON. The small pedigree ,,or(l > belonging to .Mr P. C. Andersen, of Parkvalo, lias provided some interesting returns. The -hord comprises five rows bred l),v Air Anderson, and they trace Lack to Mr J. Stuokloy's wellknown Darkie and Primrose strains, crossed with Lord Rnvontho-ne, this sire .having both Criero and Favourite blood in his veins. Mr Anderson is now using in this herd Prince Garibaldi, a Monopoly 11. boll from a Primrose cow bred by Mr Stnekley, which shows'lu's faith in the strain as a producer of milk and butter fat 1 The first heifer to come in by Prince Garibaldi milked as high as 3211) in June, and 3011) in August. Last- seaI son Mr Anderson sent to the Parkvale dairy factory a little over 30,000 lb of milk from the Ist September to the end of May, the best week being at the beginning of November, during which the quantity of milk totalled 12041b, with a 4.3 test. The highest test was readied in the third week of May, during which the quantity of milk totalled 3801b, with -a 0.0 test. The average t.e-'t for September and the following eight months read a* I'o-Iows: 1-.0, .J.'J, 4.4. 4.7, 4.8, 4.0, 4.05, 5.2, 5.0. During the proviom year the average test ranged from I.C to 0.4. Tho factory c.hecuios show thai the five cows in the herd averaged £lO 3s 8d for the season, with butt- 1 ! fat at Is Gd per lb; but when anotiiei 2620 lb of mi!!: is added to the MM Ih, this being what was received be. fore and after factory dates ;t i found that the average per row i 10-52011) for the year, which -übitan tially increases the money value ave rage. Still more 'meritorious is thi record, when it is taken into consul I oration that Mr Anderson, like man 9 others, suffered from a visitation r grass grubs during the autumn. Th herd Ims given a constant snop! throughout, as the difference dors in vary more than I'l rght tl-nvrrh th season.
