EANDWICK RESULTS. | DUKE FOOTE WINS METROPOLITAN. (Received Last Night, G. 25 o'clock.) SYDNEY, October 7. The weather was glorious for tho second day of tho Australian Jockey Club's meeting, and the attendance was enormous. The track was in excellent condition. Rosults: — The Shorts.—Gigandra, 10.2 (A. Olliver), 1; Irishman, 8.9 (Connell}, 2; Malt Mary, 9.1 (Connell), 3. There. I were twelve starters including Theodore 8.9, Peiveno 8.4, and Ermeiij { lflrmong&rde were prominent until : the bend was reached. Gigandra was prominent tlirdugnout and won by a length, a head separating tho second and third horses. Time, lmin 15sec. .Clinborn Stakes. —Aurifer 1, Perdita 2, Baramah 3. There wexo. iwet-r ve starters. Aurifer Cook the lead* after going threo furlongs, and lead- , ing by four lengths into the straight, won easily by six lengths. Time, I min 54sec. Metropolitan Handicap.—Duke Foote (It. Lewis), 1; Piastre (Sianahan), 2; Ladies' Man (Connell), 3. AH started. From a good start Shuja (C. Emerson), Danaus, Cisco and Piastre took up the running-. Passing the stand Shuja, Ladies' Man, Piastre and Cisco showed tne> way to Blakeney, Danaus and Angelique. At the ten furlong post the order was the same, except that Willow Green moved up. Hero Duke. Foote was fairly well up. A little further Hartfell, Simla, Ocean Blue, and Irish Figure Ml Shuja <xmtinued in command past tho inife post, with Blakeney, Piastre, LadiesMan and Danaus as his nearest attendants, followed by Allured, Cisco, and Duke Foote. Shuja led into the straight followed by Piastre ami Duke Foote. At the distance Shuja faltered and Duke Foote made his rim followed l>v Ladies' Man and Piastre. Under the stick Duke Foote went away, and giving nothing a chance, won by four lengths from Piastre, with Ladies' Man a 'length away. Shuja was fourth, followed hy Artesian, Aurofodina, Eric( Lochano and Danaus. Cisco was the last to finish. Bronze and Vice Admiral were never prominent. Time 2mint. 34£ sec. Steeplechase.—Kingdom (Carter),. 1; Sir Lethe (R. Gray), 2; Continu- - ance (J. O'Connell), 3. There wera eleven* starters including the New ZJealanders Hiautapn and Kairoma. Sir Lethe made the pace throughoiit until the straight was reached. Kingdom and Continuance being well .hack. until coming down the hill the s-eo-ond time. Entering the straight Kingdom challenged Sir Lethe nn<! beat him home by four lengths. Continuance, who made a srood effort, was six lengths away, third. Tim©* smin 32* see. Hartfell. who fell in the Metropolitan, was badly knocked about, and may not start during the remainder of the meeting. Pike.* the iockev. was badly cut about the head, and is in a serious condition.
