UNSUITABLE FOR GOATS.

Tho Tangoio Estate, in Hawke's Bay, which was bought by tho Ward Government for closer settlement, threatens to become one of the hardy annuals of discussion on the Estimates in Parliament. It .seems that it is more or less infested with blackberry, and upon the appearance in the Land for Settlement Account of an item of £230 for the eradication of this pest on the estate, Mr Buchanan suggested thH the Government should advise the settlers to get some goats for the purpose. 'Whereupon Mr George Hunter remarked that goats had been tried npbn the estate before it was sold to the Government, but left it and travelled over the neighbouring runs. "Even they found the place unsuitable." An estate that is shunned by goits seems to have been a rather unfortunate purchase.
