COMPULSORY TRAINING
A MOTION REJECTED. (Received October -I, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 4. At the Presbyterian General Assembly a motion disapproving of compulsory military training was rejected. Without committing itself to the principle of compulsory drills, the Assembly recognises the grave responsibilities of the country for adequate defence, and urges the supreme importance of safeguarding the mora! welfare of the trainees, especially youths. It strongly recommends the substitution of early morning and night (bills wiierc possible, and full provision for the proper oversight of tji? moral welfare of the cadets.
