Some anxiety is being occasioned in shipping circles regarding the safety of thn schooner Awanu (Captain Bat'hes)', wtiicli left Gisborno for Mercury Bay in company with the ketch Coronation on September 9th. The Coronations captain reported that both vessels were blown to sea on September 22nd,and the latter parted company with the Awanui which has not since been heard of.
