SHOOTING FATALITY
A BOY'S DEATH

CHRIST/CHURCH, Last Night
Clareneo Plumridge, 14 years of ago, died in the hospital this morn- • ing as a result of a gunshot wound accidentally received whilst, out shootling rabbits on the Port Hills on September loth. At the .inquest, evidence was given by Leonard Sowman, a lad 17 years, who owned the gun, that on the 14th inst. he, with deceased, was shooting on the hills, and between 7 and 8 p.m.' called at deceased's house to get a drink of water. They left the gun, and forgot nil about it till the following day about 11 a.m. He denied that he had lent the gun to Plumridge. The evidence of one of the boys who was with Plumridge on the loth was to the effect that he | was with Plumridge when he bought | twenty-five cartridges about noon on the 14th. The Coroner asked Soman if he had told the truth as to not hav- ! ing lent or promised to lend the gun to Plumridge, and Soman stoutly aver-, red that he had told the truth. Thi> Coroner informed the police that that was as far as be could go; but of course if they got further evidence, they would possibly prosecute Soman. A verdict was recorded, according t*> ,ihe medical testimony, that deceased [died from a gunshot wound, accidentally' received,
