GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
SATURDAY'S PLAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night, Tho golf links at Heretaunga, which were covered with water on Friday, dried up sufficiently on Saturday to permit of tho championship tourney being continued. The professional match was won by Butters. In the semi-final of the amateur championship Wood defeated. K. Duncan easily, and Harold Wright defeated Arthur Dimcan. Wright and Wood will contest the fin?.! on Monday. The following are the detailed scores : Am a ten r Champion, third round —■ A. Duncan beat Harold, 3 up and 1 to play; Iv. Duncan beat H. Gillies, 7 up and 6 to play; H. Wright be<it A. N. Kennedy, 3 up and 2 to play; C. B. Wood bent Goss, 3 up and 1 to play. Semi-final—C. B. Wood (Christchurch) beat A. Duncan (Wellington), 2 up and 1 to play. In the Professional semi-final Simpson beat McEwan 1 up; Butters beat Hood 1 up. In the final Butters (Christchurch) beat Simpson (Miramar) by 4 up and 2 to play. ' MASTERTON CLUB. On Saturday last a handicap medal competition was played o n tho Club's links. The best cards handed in were: W. H. Robieson (8) 82; C. Perry (8) 83; Ed. Perry (21) 84; A. H. Magson (14) 91.
