Two demonsvvtio ;> t a--connection with the imprisonment of tho Waihi htr:ko:\s wivo lu-1.1 on Saturday night and Sunday. Groat crowda attended, but tho majority were curious spectators. The proceedings were orderly. The assemblages were addressed by the Federation leaders and resolutions of protest were carried by the sympathisers present. Saturday night's gathering marched to the gaol, where further addresser, wero given. A TIMARU DEMAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, Last Night. Prom ''three to four hundred persons attended an open-air meeting this afternoon at which two water-slide workers spoke on the aims of the Federation of Labour, and the causes of the Waihi strike from the Federation point of view. A resolution of protest against the gaoling, and a demand for the release of the prisoners was out and carried, about a hundred voting for, and very few against. An amendment in favour of declining to express an ooinion was not seconded.
