Bates, of the Meteorological Office, this evening issued tho following report:— (Misty and cloudy weather lias prevailed with considerable rain, especially on the West Coast. The barometer is very low everywhere. Northerly winds strong to gale have prevailed. Present indications are for high - westerly ■ winds, veering- to ;> .southerly gale. The barometer will pivbably fall lower in the north, but will rise shortly in the south, and everywhere after about, twenty hours. R;u'n is probable generally, a;xl some pinw J on the higher levels in the south with I colder weather following. A brief improvement is possible in the meantime in some part; cf the country, lint the immediate f,respects rre far I'ram promising.
