BREACHES AT CffiUBTCHURiOB. (By Teugraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last NigM. The time of Mil- T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., at the Police Court to-day was chiefly occupied dealing with a. large* batch of prosecutions under the Defence Act, Most of the charges, were for failing to render service. Mr Cassidy appeared for pactfeally all the defendants. When the first case of failing to render service came on His Worship said he would uphold MBr Cassidy's contention made the other day, that under the Defence Act Territorials and Parliament had to allocate tnenumber of men -required. Accordingly he could not convict any youna man, who had* hot taken the oath, of failing to render service, but thos«* who had taken the oatlr, Tfad waived their rights in nrespecfc to the mat., ter, and so could Bo" convicted.
