A FATAL MISTAKE

At th"-inquest on the body oi ; Thorn,as Anderson Robertson. 40 years of age v a pastrycook, wlio died at-2 a.m., the evidence of deceased's wife was to the effect that he 1 had been out of work for a week. He sometimes took , too mvtch drink, but it did not tako much to unset him. When he return-, I ed home -at 8 p.m. on Monday ho was I under the influence of liauor. At I about 11 o'clock Robertson, who was I suffering from rheumatism; and who was- th the habit at nights iif -aking I sulphur for hi-: complaint, asked witness to,get some cream of tartar and seda. She found that the box in ■which the- sulphur was kept was untouched, but the lid was off'a box con-tain-Tug "Rough on Rats." On asking Robertson, he s-\id be had taken sulphur. Witness stated that deceased w-?.s sufficiently fuddled to mistake "Rough on Rats" for sulphur. After hearing the medical evidence, a verdict was recorded that deeeased died from arsenic, poisoning, as a result of taking "Rough on Rats" \n ■ mistake for sulphur.
