LAUNCH OF THE AUDACIOUS BRITISH TAXi'AVERS' BURDKN. (Received September 10, 8.30 a.m.) !» LONDON, September 10. : The Conntesj. of LyKon launched the battleship Audacious ;:t Birkenhead. The Hon. S. Hughes, Canadian Minister for Defence, speaking at the luncheon, said Great Britain had been left to face the Defence Bill. VTe regretted tint Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada had not .shared the British taxpayers' burden. (The Audacious is of 23,000 ton;;. Her length is 530 ft. beam .89ft',- and dr Might 27} ft. Her indicated horsepower i« 27,000. Provision will be made for ten 13.5 in and sixteen lin guns, besides three torpedo tubes. The speed of the Audariou.s will be 21 knots. Her builders are Cammell and Laird.)
