STEPNIAK (sire of PETER PAN) was a first-class performer in New Zealand, and a winner of a number of classic events at two and three years. At four year's old he raced in Australia, being beaten by a head in the Craven Plate by the New Zealand colt Loyalty. Stepniak is by Nordenfeldt (sire of Strathmoro, Nalinski, Meganser, Crackshot &n.d other good performers) out of Steppe (imp/' a great producer of winners, including Russeley (Doncaster Handicap), Mahaki (Wellington Cup), Stepfeldt (Greata Northern Derby, and dam of many crack racers). Stepniak, during the past ten seasons, produced many winners, stakes amounting to. £90,000. His stock included such performers as Marguerite, All Red. Vladimir, Cross Battery, Munjeet. Munjista and numerous others.

Steppe (Imp.), dam of Stepniak, is by Saunterer (Winner of Champagne Stakes, Goodwood and Brighton Cups) out of Seclusion, dam of Hermit (winner of Derby in 1887. Armilla (dam of PETER PAN) is a member of thp successful Locket family, and to which belongs Thunderbolt (for many years a successful sire in South Australia), Medallion (sire of Achilles, etc.), Necklace, the dam of Cravat (Metropolitan Stakes winner), Collarette (dam of Collarit). Armilla (dam of Peter Pan) is a full sister to Cravat and Collaretto, by imported Castor, whose progeny have won about £IOO,OOO in stakes. PETER PAN was bred by Mr J. F.
