TRUST LANDS TRUST
PAID CHAIRMAN SUGGESTED. ITo The Editor.] Sir, —Taking into consideration tiic value—which is an ever increasing one—of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, would it not bo a wise step to appoint a paid chairman, the best expert oil estate management that can bo procured, to run the institution on the lines laid down by the founders of the Trust? At the present trustees are elected by the people, for whom the Trust is held and the Trustees appoint a chairman from amongst their number. It cannot be claimed that the chosen of the peoplo are export.l: in property management. They are 110 doubt experienced in tho conduct of their respective businesses or professions, but even were they property experts they havo their own business interests to attend to, and what is required is tho undivided attention of one responsible man to the affairs of the Trust. The revenue of the Trust is largo enough to warrant the payment of an expert chairman or controller. His recommendations would, of course, bo subject to the Board. Such an appointment should result in an increased revenue, and give greater satisfaction to tho beneficiaries under tho Trust.—l am, etc.. ELECTOR.
