Tho discussion in tie House of Representatives last evening on the Defence Act was ill-advised. Several members exhibited bad taste in their references to the- Commandant iof tho Force.?, and the Minister did f .:iot resent the attack 'upon his Department; as he should Inu'e done. The Dominion has the utmost confidence in tho now Minister. It can not, hoAvever. allow the experience -of the past to influence tlie defence policy 'if the future. The Minister has a rig Jit to expect oa-cit assistance from Parliament, and when the defence administration is subjected to captious criticism he haa OA'ory reason to complain.
