A statement embodying the Wellington Trades Council's objections was put forward and concludes:—"W< respectfully submit that the origiua. proposal was conceived in lust ioi wealth, w'thout labour or service, a:u. brought forth as the twin brother of railway monopoly, which the ccmpaiu is: prepared to oifer as a sacrifice to tin State, 011 the condition that its lust; twin brother, hind monopoly, is cloth- i eel with the sanction of Parliament. | We ask the committee to si'Ho both, and in conclusion we regret that tin country should be put to the expenpp of another inquest on this point.
