PHYSICAL CULTURE.
The second annual championships in connection with the N.Z. Physical Culture Association are to be held in Masterton on October 10th. It is probable that competitors will bo present from Auckland, Wellington. Christ-church and elsewhere, so that the function will bo of Dominion importance. A epeci:il attraction -has been arranged, in. the shape of a competition for primary school teams, fhi> which a shield is being provided by Mr J. T. Payne. M.7\ Although the announcement of this competition has come at a somewhat hte hour, it is iilly expected that, the principal schools of the district will furnish teams. Tn the meantime, a request is .being made to the Railway Department to permit school teams to travel free to the competition, wo have no doubt that, fleeing the splendid object-of iho gathering, thig concession will be readily granted..
