OF DAIRY CATTLE

What must be. record prices for the Dominion in pedigree cattle were obtained to-day at the. first annual sale of Mr Newton King's pedigree Holstein and Friesran cattle. Fourteen cows, three heifers, nine yearling bulls and two 2-year-old bulls were submitted, and realised for the twenty-eight head 3377. guineas, an average of 124 guineas.
The majority of tho stock .sold remains in Taranaki. Mr R. Marrow, of Rahatu, bought eight head at ■ a cost of 1128 guineas, including Dorotea at 219 guineas, Mazlie Pauline DeKol at 225 guineas. Mazlie Maid at 180 guineas, and the bull Sir Inka at 180 guineas.
Mr, Quinn, of Te Awamutu, secured Duchess DeKol at 219 guineas. Mr •Smedley, Hobsonville, Prince Alcarta Pietje at 170 guineas, and the cow Galatea a't 120 guineas. Mr Mellow. Kaponga, bought Neil Dorothea and Clot-hide at 177 guineas. Mr More Horo, Rahotu, bought the bull Clothilde DeKol Segis at 154 guineas. Mr W. Honeyfield,' .Oakura, purchased King Segis Bounty at 148 guineas. These were the highest prices. Many b'thers were sold,over 100 guineas.' The grades realised up to 73 guineas.
