MATERNITY BONUSES

.MELBOURNE, September 4. 1
A deputation, representing the Churches, protested to the Hon. H. Fisher, Premier of the Commonwealth against granting a maternity bonus for illegitimate still-born chiklren on the grounds that .such a. course' is conducive of immorality and abortion. Mr Fisher replied that no arguments would deter him from, making the .allowance to all mothers in order to guard against abortionists. If the Government empowered them to spend money in caring for he would see that it was done.
