TWO TMS COLLIDE PASSENGERS KILLED AND INJURED. (Received This Morning 12.50 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, September 4. A disastrous railway accident occurred to-night.

A special train from Flemington Showground crashed into a Cobwrg train, between North Melbourne and ±he Spencer -Street Station.

Two men, named A. Wilson and J. McDonald, were killed, and many were injured. The injured were removed to Melbourne and other hospitals. Ihe number injured is so far known to lie 39. The most -serious have broken limbs. Many escaped with a shock and bruises. Hie accident opcurred where two *ets of rails cross.

That the fatality list is not larger is due to the trains travelling slowly. The inijKiet lmrled the passengers in all directions.

HEARTRENDING SCENES. The trains were heavily laden with passengers. Tlie women became panic stricken, but were soon' reassured. ITwo second-class cars in the Coburg train were smashed, and the debris scattered in all directions.

The first car in the show train was partially telescoped. Those in' the intact cars quickly detrained, and Assisted in the rescue work. '
