"A FINANCIAL OUTRAGE."
Under the above heading the Dominion smites the Ward Government hip and thigh for the expenditure of £162,000 in housing Parliament and His Excellency the Governor since Parliament Buildings were destroyed by fire. On the face of it, the figures look appallingly large f But we should like to know just where the extravagance has been. If the cost cf Government House (£57,844) was too great, will tho Dominion, or the party it represents, tell us where a substantial saving could have been effected ? If the estimated cost of the alterations now being made to Parliament Buildings (£63,000) is excessive, where can economies be practised • Government House and Parliament Buildings are permanent institutions which should be an 'attraction to + hj". capital city. Before we condemn tlr. j Ward Government we went to know where the particular extravagances have been.
