HOSPITAL & CHARITABLE AID

MEETIXG OF.FJN'ANCK COMMITTEE. Tho monthly meeting of the Finance Committee of the AVairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday; afternoon, there being present Messrs E. G. Eton (chairman), AV. Fisher, D. J. Cameron and C. J. Ewinjjton.

The payment of £361 10s, being the first instalment of supply to the South Wairarapa Hospital Committee was approved. Accounts amounting to £268 Is lid were passed for payment. In connection with an application for admission to the Buchanan Home., it was resolved that the application be granted as soon as a doctor's certificate was granted. It was rosolvcd that the meetings of the Buchanan Home and District Nurse Committee be held on the third Tuesday in each month.

In reply to the' Board's letter, asking the Minister of Public Health to have-the Hospital and Charitable Aid Act of ]9o9•amended, to enable committees of Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards to have financial control of the institutions under their charge (subject to the approval of the Board), a, letter was received front the Minister containing a proposal which it was suggested would meet the requirements of the various committees concerned.

It was resolved that the secretary be authorised to wait upon the Minister and Inspector-General of Hospitals in connection with the matter. It was resolved that the Board be recommended to adopt a uniform scale of charges for patients at the three hospitals under the Board's control, the said scale, to be the same as that obtaining at the Mas'terton Hospital, namely from 4s to 9s per diem. A letter was received from Mr W. B, Rowntree, the late clerk of works for the Buchanan Home, asking for a reference.

It was unanimously decided to accede to tho request, as the work of Mr Rowntrce had been very highly spoken of by members of the committee.

Tho treasurer's report, showing a credit balance of £957 13s lid, was read and adopted.
