STATEMENT BY ROOSEVELT.

(Received This Morning 12.45 o'clock.) NEW YORK, September 3.

Mr Theodore Roosevelt in a letter to the Chairman of the Committee, investigating the campaign contributions, stated that Senator Penrose's statement and Mr A'rchbold's support thereof, were unqualified falsehoods. Mr Penrose, he said, was merely com : parablo with the graft of a policeman, and ought to be removed from the Senate.
