LONDON, September 1
Mr Aikiiis, a member of the Canadian House of Commons, interviewed alter attending The Hague Education Conference, said that as the result of conversations he had had on the Continent and in England, he was convinced that Germany and Enghmd were almost in a state of war. Whouever the blow was struck the war would possibly be over in three months. —or three days.

The Kaiser entertained Brandenburg notables at a banquet". In a speech he said they could be satisfied with present-day conditions under which the farmer, the merchant, the manufacturer, and the artisan could pursue their callings protected against hostile arrogance or warlike invasion by an army ready for battle and a navy which was growing.
