THE WILLIS INCIDENT. (Received This Morning, 1.18 o'clock.) SYDNEY, September 1. The Hon. Jas. McGowen refuses to discuss the Willis incident. " He will confer with Mr Willis to-morrow. Mr Willis, in,an interview, repeated the statements contained in his memorandum to the effect that the Daily Telegraph was guilty of contempt by wilfully misrepresenting what took place in the House. It had incited members to disorder by commending si' suspended member for his bad conduct. Asked whether the complaint referred to the actual reports or to the heading of the articles, Mr Willis did not reply definitely. , In a second interview the Speaker remarked that he could only recognise 1 the Telegraph as one publication con- ! trolled by one editor. Mr Willis dodared that an assurance that tho writers on the Telegraph will respect the authority of Parliament (should bo forthcoming, failing which, their exclusion must continue.
