Playing against the wind in the first spell Wangaiini had.the better of :iic game, but with no score being registered. Wellington, like, Wanganui, played better against the wind than vfith it. and a few minutes after the commencement Matheson scored in a fair position. Scainton's kick missed Within eight minutes of time FabejVetted a goal in front of the posts, and under difficulties.. The ball struck the upright just above tho crossbar, and cannoned inwards amid a scene of tho wildest excitement. These wore the only scores in a decidedly strenuous and very interesting game, of which Wellington had slightly the better. A feature throughout the game was the splendid'tackling and 'tceneral defensive work of the Wellington backs, who kept the local 'tacks quiet.
