RAID ON SOCIETY HOUSES

(Received Last Night, 8.5 o'clock.) NEW YORK, August 28.

A sensation has been caused in New York by the publication of a list of raided gambling houses in connection with the Grand Jury's investigation of tho gambling evi throughout tho city.

Numbers of prominent society people, many of whom are well-known in religious movements, are included as owners of the houses where the raids have been made during the past twelve months. The' late William Astor's estate appears as the owner of one notorious resort, and a. wealthy charitable institution for sailors is the owner of another.
