CIVIL SERVICE BILL
READ A FIRST TIME,

WELLINGTON, Last Night,
In the House" of Representatives this afternoon, the Public Service Bill was introduced by Governor's message and read a first time. ,
Replying to Mr G. W. Russell, the Prime Minister said that members would be given ari ! opportunity of of digesting the report of the Civil Service Commission before the second reading of the Bill. The report would be laid, before the House this week.
