PKARSOX CUP. A great surprise was in store for Rugby enthusiasts who were present at the junior match Red Star v. Carterton, played on the Mastertou Old Showgrounds, on Saturday. Carterton, who had, until Saturday, held an unbeaten record were expected to win by a large margin, but the result, Red Star 21), Careterton 6, proved contrary. The Red Star team comprised seven third-class players who acquitted themselves remarkably well. The first half was fairly even, .both tennis attacking hotly at times, 1 and this spell ended 'Red Star 9, Carterton 3. The second venture was j much in favour of the black and whites who added an additional 11 points to their opponents 0. Scores were registered for the winner? by Frazer(2), Ewington; S. Hoar, one each. Wickers converted one try and Bowman kicked a penalty goal. Merrick and Reid scored for Carterton. Mr B. Chapman, ably controlled the game.
