A CHARGE OF MURDER
YKHDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER

AUCKLAND, Last Night
At the Supreme Court to-day Taniihnna Wirepa was charged with the murder of his younger brother. To Ha man a Wirepa. and also with wound;ns.; with intent William Nowland and Tunataare Wirepa. The charge was the result of a quarrel oil, Junt sth at a. Maori pah near Tekaha, Bay of Plenty, when the principals concerned had been drinking together. The defence was that accused was drunk and was not in a fit state to know what bo was doing, having no intention of committing murder. Tho jury returned a verdict of manslaughter, and Judge Cooper sentenced the accused to seven years' imprisonment.

Mr Robinson said that the secretary of the High School Committee would hff able to give the information desired.
Mr Flauagin : "h.v suipport of your attitude you should know who these gentlemen are." Mr Robinson: "T do know, but the question is outside Trust matters."
The Chairman, at this juncture, stated that the movement for an Agricultural College did not necessarily uuMii a college in Masterton, but :n. the Wairarapa, and that was the object of the deputation proceeding to Wellington to-morrow. HTGH SCHOOL MOVEMENT.
The Rev. A. T. Thompson then rose to speak, and explained at length the object of the High School Establishment Committee and slid that he thought the time was ripe for the establishment of a High School in Masterton. This, ho said, would not be in any way a countermovo to the proposed Agricultural College. After a lengthy speech Mr Thompson proposed "That In the opinion of the meeting of Masterton residents the time had arrived at which Masterton should have a High School, and that in accordance with the regulations the Wellington Education Board he requested to give effect to the .steps-ne-cessary to establish the same." Messrs W. H. Jackson, C. E. Daniel; ami R. Brown also spoke, and the resolution was carried on a show of hands. (We regret that pressure of space prevented us from reporting the meeting as fully a& we should .have liked.)
