POOK STAND BY AUSTRALIA. (Received Thursday, at 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, August 21. The weathr was dull and chilly, and the wicket somewhat on the soft side. Dean and Barnes took up tli bowling. The batting was quiet, and the fielding close. Barnes' deliveries were rising. Bardsley was 25 minutes scoring two singles. Woolley r placed Barnes when the score was 77. Bardsley hit four and three in his first over. Barnes replaced Dean at 85. The batting was admirable and watchfid. AVoolley, in his second over, got Kolleway leg before. The latter batted 115 minutes, and was excellent under the circumstances. He scored fivo fours. —C for 90. A collapso followed, the rest of tli-o team adding only 21.

Jennings camo next, and easily fell a victim to Woolley in his third over, without bavin;'; scored. —4 for 90.
