At tho annual meeting of the Parkrule Dairy Company, Messrs W\ J, Denbee, U. Lorenzen, and H. Matson wero re-elected directors, and Mr B. J. Chapman auditor. Mr W. A. ltei.v.all ivas re-elected chairman of directors. It wag decided to open tho season on Monday next. Mr F. J. King, of Cirtertc.ii, has purchased the inilk' fl. Nts and cans v ots of the Lincon. Dairy from Mr E. -I. Alpin, and intends to tako up tho running on the first of tho month. A rather useful and valuable dog liad the misfortune to be run over by a motor car here tho other day, killing it almost immediately. Wandering dogs are a constant source of danger to motorists, especially in the town, and as there is no dog tax in Uirterton useless canines;, wander about tho streets and paddock* with groat freedom. Wo believe that Carterton is tho only, borough in the Wairarapa Electorate where no dog tax is enforced. This is ii> matter the Borough authorities should consider. * The staff at tho Carterton Railway Station has been increased by the addition of a cadet. The station had , the assistance of a cadet wme time tack, but when th© Napier express was taken off the staff was reduced Tjv ono porter and <a> cadet. Since then the business hag grown so much as to -entitle tho replacement of the cadet. There are now J. 07. subscribers on tho Carterton Telephone Exchange. A now firm of motor engineers, Messrs Broadbont and Smalle will ■commence business here at the beginning of the month. They have taken the. premises which belonged to Mr J. ©. Hoagerty, near the Victoria Hall in High Street, and have had ex tensive alterations mode to same, ■which is a decided improvement to the structure. It is reported that a well-known Native has purchased the vacant section of ground opposite Pembroke Street, and intends erecting r. hall thereon for tho purpose of establishing a-port-ent picture show. It is stated that the price of the section was a little over £2OO. Tho Carterton Gun Club fired a £2s' match this .afternoon, Mr Fen wick, jtin., of Kaiwawai, winning off tho 12 yards mark. Three divided tho second prize.
