CARTERTON NEWS
At a meeting held in Carterton 011 1 uesday evening a strong committee was elected t.o carry out tho aims of the Carterton Town Beautifying Society.
At St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon Mr Percy J. Reid, son pf Mrs J. C. Reid. of Carterton, was married to Miss Margaret Dolina, Harvey, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Harvey, of Carterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev L. Thompson, and Miss Feist .iresided at the organ. A reception was held later at the residence of the bride's parents, and the young couple later on'their honeymoon tour south. Mr and Mrs.P. J. Reid will reside in Carterton.
The prevalence of mumps had an effect on the attendance at the Carterton School. During the past month out of a roll number of 274 only an average of 231 was obtained. Members of Totara Lodge. 11.A.0.1).,I 1 .A.0.1)., on Monday ievening presented Bro P. J. Reod with a serviceable armchair 011 the occasion of his joining the ranks of the benedicts. The Fire Brigade on Tuesday evening presented Mr Reid w.ith[ a marble clock. *
Mr A. Phillpotts has presented ten handsomely bound books to the Carterton Troop of Boy Scouts to form the nucleus of a Scout librarv.
