LAST SEASON'S TRANSACTIONS

Reports of various dairying cdncorns to hand mate interesting reading. The latest, reports received are a.s midor:—

THE PARK VALE COMPANY. The twelfth report of the Parkvale Company states that the factory was opened on August 28th, 1911, and closed on June Ist, 1912, during which time 5,418,820 lb of milk were received. The yield of butter fat was 202,360.571b, from which 550,7721b, or 246 tons, of cheese were made. Each pound of butter fat yielded 2.72 lb of cheese, and each pound of cheese required 9.8211) of milk. The tests ranged from 3.0 to 6.5, the average being 3.73. After setting aside the sum of £66 10s, as a dividend at 6 per cent, on the subscribed capital, and writing £llß 0s lOd off for the depreciation of plant and buildings, there remains a balance of £1770 13s Id due to suppliers, making the actual price paid per pound of butter fat Is 4d and l-10th of a nenny, eoual to 6.31 d per gallon of IOJIb of milk.

THE DALEFIELI) COMPANY. The Dalofield Company's twelfth annual report says that during the season, 11,181,724 lb of butter fat, I from which 1,117.5661b, or 512 tons, of cheese were made, being an in- [ crease of 40 tons on last year's output. | The highest test during the season was 6.0, arid the lowest 3.1, the average being 3.888. The quantity of milk required to make one pound of cheese was 9.471b, and each pound of butter fat made 2.641b of cheese. After paving an advance amounting to £25,362 18s fld, writing off £79 8s .2d for depreciation of plant and buildings, and reserving £6l 'l6s for 6 -per Cent, dividend on subscribed capital, there remains a balance of £3283 Us lOd due to suppliers, making an actual .cash payment of Is 3d and 1316th.s of a penny per lb of butter fat, equal to 6.45 d per ""'lnn of milk of lOilb.

THE LONGUSH COMPANY. The directors of the Longbush Company state that the factory opened on 1 September 6th, 1911, and closed on June 2nd, 1912, during which period 819,83911) of milk were received. The. yield of butter-fat was 29,767.071b, from which 81.4481b of cheese were made. Each, pound of butter fat yielded 2;731b of cheese, and each pound cheese required 10.061b milk. The tests ranged from 3.1 to 5.4, the average being 3.63. Monthly advances on butter fat amount to £1364 6s 6d, leaving a balance of £537 18s 2d out of which the directors recommend a further payment of 2|-d per pound butter fat, making the payment | for the season, equal to 5.14 d , ; per gallon of milk of 10£!b, and writing the balance of £227 16s 5d (equal to 1.83 d per pound butter fat) off pro- j perty account.

THE CAERIXGTON COMPANY. The chairman of the Carrington Company, Mr M. McLennan, in his annual report, says the second year's operations of the company have been highly satisfactory. The factory was opened on August 28th, 1911, and closed on June Ist, 1912, during which I time 1,949,1641b of milk were received, yielding 75,946.31b butter fat, | from which 198,2191b, or 8S tons, of ' cheese were made. The average test for the year was-3.89. The quantity of milk required to make one' pound of cheese was 9.831b, and each pound of butter fat made 2.611b of cheese. Monthly payments on milk at the rate of Is per lb butter fat amounted to £3797 6s 6d. A balance, £lOll 12s lOd, is now available, out of which the directors propose to pay an additional 3d per lb of butter fat, making the total payment Is 3d per lb of butter fat, or 6.13 d per gallon of milk of and writing the bal- , a nee of £62 6g -Jcl off property account.

ME XIItEAHA COMPANY. The following is the annual report of the Nireaha Co-operative Company, to he presented at tue annul meeting to be held on August 31st:—During the season advances were made to suppliers amounting to £13,503 12s 5d at the rate of 13d per 11) of butter fat. With the balance due to suppliers, £2986 8s Bd, payments will have totalled 15-Jd per lb of butter fat. The directors have written off £lsl for depreciation on building, machinery, etc.., and recommend that £IOO l>e placed to reserve account, and that a dividend of 6 per cent be paid on nil paid-up capital, which, will absorb- £1:34 47s 3d, also that £9O be set apart for repairs and renewals at present being effected, and leaving a balance of £2l 4s 3d to carry forward. Milk received 6.541,91811), butter fat received 249,303 lb, average- test 3.8G, cheese made 693,7281b, amount milk to lib cheese 9.30, amoiuiti' cheese to lib butter fat 2.78.
