The only blot on the popular fixture way. the'disqualification of The Native in the X,[tio:;nl Hurdles, and the demonstration against Ccrqne-ttcd in tlr* 1 .Hl'l'dles. There are many differences of opinion in connection with the disqualification of The Native; and many rrcing men consider that Wm. J. Bull was deeidodkv unfortunate to lose the race. Mere will cf course be heard of the matter, when mere light may be thrown upon it. The demonstration
against Coronetted, who st.-rted at a:i outside price, was no doubt on account of such a hot favourite as Paisano being beaten by a horse that failed to gain a pi we in the Trial Hurdles. The race evidently did Coroneltrd good, and he ran up to the form lie showed before leaving home. Waterworks was the lucky horse at the National -meeting. His running in the Sydenham Hurdles ini which he finished a long way behind Coronetted smd Paisaiio, -bowed that his winning the National Hurdles was one of the flukes which occasionally are- to be met with in the "Sport of Kings.'.' iSiir Lethe showed alt his old dash on Saturday, and looked a winner until well up the straight. He failed over the last furlong, enabling Paritutu to ecoro the most popular win of the meeting. The old Castor gliding is one r;f the .most popular norses racing, and he and his rider recei 'eo
a great ovation. The Otaki-Maori Racing Club'g programme is now out,, and -all classes of horses are liberally catered for. The meeting will take place at the new course on September 23rd and 24th. j 1 The Marton fixture, for which nominatioi'/i appe?ired on Saturday, has been considerably affected by bavin? only a one-day meeting.
