AN OBDURATE YOUNG MAN

Tn tlfo Magistrate's Court fo-day .a-.Territorial named Garfield Oglo pleaded not guilty to a. charge of failing to attend parades. The defendant urged conscientious objection-, but the Magistrate said he was pot satisfied with this excuse, and therefore defendant did not appear entitle* 1 to exemption. The defendant state J that ho- was not prepared to attend parados. He would pay a fine, or do anything. Defendant's counsel endeavoured to persuade his client io reconsider his .decision. The latter, however, was obdurate. The Magistrate remarked that defendant's attitude was a pure defiance of the law. He fined him £5, with V2i costs.
