WAIRARAPA CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. After four weeks socll the Wairarapa Rugby Championship fixture:; were continued yesterday. Interest was mainly centered in the Carte rtou— Red Star match, as the result practically decided the premiership. The game was keenly contested, and Carterton won in the last ten minutes, when eight points were scored by Carterton, Gladstone defeated liberal at Greytown by six points to five Greytown have withdrawn from the competition, and consequently Masterton did not Lave a match.' Auckland and Taranaki met in the 'match for the Eanfnrly Shield, and after a keenlv contested match interspersed with frequent flashes of hr.illianev Auckland iron by 6 points to 5. Auckland had the best of the first spell. Macky scoring as the result of a good passing rush. Tfiverson scored n penalty goal, the spell ending Auckland 6 Taranaki nil. A complete r-hange came over the play in the ■second spell, Taranaki playing with great dash, and pressing Auckland beat the home team time and again.
