CLEARING SALES. Messr* James Maeinteoh aod Co. report having hold a clearing sale on Friday,, Kith August, on account of Harry Feast, Esq.. Ahaikouka, when they offered his herd of dairy cows, and a good line of hoifery, which wcro very keenly competed for, and sows and litters, 'hay, mangolds, etc, all of which met with keen competition, and every lot was .sold. Tho cows came forward in good condition and at> prices .show, were well competed for. The line of 43 .heifers were keenly Mi light after and sold very well.
The sow<- and litters were exceptionally good, and fcold well up to late rates. Quotations are a.s follows.': — Cows (calved a few day*) £l2 15s to £l4 or. Early calvers £8 lofi to £l2 10s. September calvers £8 los to £lO. The whole herd averaged £9 log. Heifers £5 15*. to £7 17s 6d, averaged £G 12-s. Pigs, sows, and litters £3 2s 6d to £7 ss; sows in pig £2 lop, £4 2s 6d to £5 10s<. Hay •brought 2s.Gd to 2s 8d per bale. Man-gokkll-s per ton. Sundries at full ' clearing 'rate*. Messrs James. Macintosh and Co. report having held a very successful clearing salo on account of R. G. Welch, Esq., on h.i.s farm at Matarawa on Tuesday, 13th August, when they offered all of his live and dead .stock which met w-th very ikeen competition and every lot offered sold at very satisfactory pricey. There was extra good competition for pigs of all descriptions, and also his grade HoLstein yearling hulls. Quotations' are*as follows: Sow's and litters £2 15s to- £6- ss: .slips Us, 18s to 235; porkers 27s fid, Holstein bulls 3gs., sgs, to 7igs;* Implements and sundries at wood clearing sale rates.' Horses: Bay mare £3O, cream gelding £24 los; bay mare £lO 10s; foal>£s.
