A MOTOR FATALITY
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER
VERDICT OF "NOT GUILTY."

The criminal sessions of the' Supreme Court were continued on Saturday before Justice Dennis'ton. A middle-aged m-.ui named Thomas Guy was charged with manslaughter arising out of the death of Annie Dunn, in a motor car accident at Sydenham on June 29 l.:st. The Crown Prosecutor said, in outlining the case for the Crown that deceased's death was alleged to have been caused by neglect and carelessness on tho part of tho accused. It was a ca?:o wli.J - .. in the interests of the public, ~'.o«t d bo inrestigated. Guy had lien driving a motor car along Colombo Street at about 6 -to'eloek in the evening. In order to avoid some cyclists, he had crossed over to the wrong side, and in doing that h j (. r.in into an old lady, knocking her down and killing her. The question was whether, under the circumstances, it was reasonable for the accused to exercise' a greater degree of care. The Crown did not allege tint the speed was, excessive. His Honour said tho question was not sio much whether it was negilgent of the accused to go on to the wrong side, but whether, being on the wrong side, he exercised reasonable care. After - brief retirement the jury returned a verdict, n? "not guilty."
