Ilayner was appointed a director of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, at a meeting of the Society held on Saturday last. The friends of Mr "Kenny" McLennan, a well-known resident of Pahiatua, will regret to hear that his health is so indifferent that his medical adviser has ordered him a long sea voyage. Mr J).'Loader, who lias for a number of years been on the staff of the Masterton Post Office, has been transferTed to Napier. Mr Loader leaves for Napier on Saturday next. The friends of Mrs C. Carlson, of Kaituna. Masterton, will learn with regret of the death of her daughter "Dolly," which occurred at Rotorua. on Sunday last, after a protracted illness. The deceased had been sent to Rotorua to see if tho change would do her good. The death is announced of Mr John Reid, of Elderslie, Otago. Tho deceased, who was born at Stirling . (Scotland) in 1835, went feo Dunedin f in 1863. He was one of the bestknown stock-breeders in the South Island.
