MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held on Friday afternoon, there being present —Messrs Alex. Henderson (president), A. T. Spain, D. M. Graham, C. E. Daniell, W. B. Ghennolls, G. H. Perry, J. B. Moodie, and V. Donald. Apologies £or absence were received from Messrs R. Brown, W. E. Chamberlain, J. C. Ew- ' ington, J. B. Keith, G. W. Sellar, and G. C. Sommerell. The treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £5 14s 9d. The Castlepoint County Council wrote, stating that Councillor A. G. Pilmer has been appointed to attend the meeting to be held in Masterton in reference to the East Coast railway. Mr G. It. Sykes, M.P., wrote, expressing regret that his Parliamentary duties would not permit his attending the meeting in Masterton to ,' discuss the question of the East Coast J railway. The- Secretary of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce advised that tho question of the Master-ton-Waipu-kurau railway had come before that ■* Chamber, but no action was taken, owing to members not having suffi- ] cient information before them. It wa-s suggest-ed that further information be forwarded. ' A lengthy communication was received from Mr T. G. Mason.,the Masterton representative at the Congress of Imperial Chambers of Commerce, giving his impression of the work of the Congress—lt was decided that Mr Mason bo thanked for his very interesting report of the proceed--1 "igs. ; A report of the proceeding of the ] Eighth Congress of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire was received, together with a request that ' the local representative be added to the list of members of the Council of the Chamber.-—lf was decided that Mr Mason's appointment to the Coim.iCJl be confirmed.
