KAITANGATA STRIKE
MEN DESIRE TO RESUME

' DUNEDIN, Last. Night. Mr-.7. Howard, a member of the executive of the Federation of Labour, addressed a meeting of strikers at Kaitangata to-day. About forty-five men were present. At the conclusion of the address, a deputation from the men Availed on Messrs Lee (manager of the company) and Carson (mine manager), and asked if the strikers would he allowed to go back to work in a body. This request was refused, the men being informed that they would have to make individual applications. The men then asked for a list of those whom the company did not intend to emnloy again, also" this w.:;s refused. The officials of the Company deny that they had any intention of refusing employment to any man wlio applied in the ordinary way. On Thursday nine strikers joined the Arbitration Union and they started work to-day. Twelve men signed on under these 'conditions to-day, and will start work tomorrow There are about 100 men still on strike.
